SUNSHADE takes a familiar summer object and lets it become a character of its own. A transparent fringed umbrella catches, fractures and throws back the hard coastal light, moving between shelter, accessory and optical device. Red sequins, wet reflections, asphalt and sparkling water keep shifting the temperature of the story. What begins as protection from the sun becomes a way of looking at it.
